Sightline's "Getaway to Seattle" Sweepstakes is offered only in the fifty (50) United States and Canada (except Province of Quebec) and is open to their legal residents 18 years or older at time of entry. No purchase, transaction, or obligation is necessary to enter or win prize. Non-purchase entries and purchase entries have an equal chance of winning. The Sweepstakes begins at 12:00:01 a.m. PDT October 6, 2009, and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. PDT October 28, 2008 ("Promotional Period").

1. To Enter: There are three ways to enter:
[1] You may subscribe to either or both of Sightline’s email newsletters “Sightline Daily” or the “Weekly Score” by going to this page and completing the form. People who are not already subscribed to one or more Sightline email newsletters ("New Subscribers") will receive one entry for each Sightline email newsletter they subscribe to -- limit one (1) entry per newsletter. People who are already subscribed to one Sightline email newsletter at the start of the Promotional Period ("Current Subscribers") will receive one (1) entry for subscribing to the other Sightline email newsletter (Sightline Daily or the Weekly Score).

[2] Each person who refers a New Subscriber will receive one (1) entry for each New Subscriber they refer. For the referral entry to be valid the New Subscriber must: 1) click on the link in the referral email sent to them, and 2) complete the sign-up process. New Subscribers must be referred using this sign-up form.

[3] To enter without purchase, transaction, or obligation, hand print your name, address, city, state/province, zip/postal code, email address, day and evening phone numbers and the words "Getaway to Seattle Sweepstakes" on a 3"x 5" card and mail in a #10 envelope hand-printed to: "Getaway to Seattle Sweepstakes", c/o Sightline Institute, 1402 Third Avenue, Suite 500, Seattle, WA 98101. Entries are limited to one per person and must be postmarked no later than October 28, 2009 and received by November 12, 2009. "Releases" (as defined below) are not responsible for stolen, lost, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, inaccurate, or illegible entries or postage-due mail, all of which are void. Entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned.

2. Drawing: On or about November 12, 2009, a random drawing from among all eligible entries received (subscriptions, referrals, and mail-ins) throughout the entire Promotional Period will be conducted. The prize will be awarded. The odds of winning depend upon the number of entries received.

3. Prizes:
[1] Grand Prize: A trip for two to Seattle, Washingtin, USA. Trip consists of up to USD $250 toward train transportation to Seattle, WA; up to USD $50 toward taxi fares from the train depot to the hotel; hotel accommodations (standard double occupancy) for two (2) nights and three (3) days at the Hyatt at Olive 8 in Seattle, WA (subject to the availability of the hotel); two breakfasts for two at Hyatt Olive 8; a USD $100 gift card for Sutra restaurant; a dinner for two valued at USD $150 at Lark restaurant (to be arranged through Sightline Institute); a USD $30 gift card for FareStart restaurant; USD $50 cash towards other meal expenses. The winner will also be able to choose up to two (2) of four (4) activities as selected by Sponsor. Activities from which to chooses include two (2) tickets to the Pacific Science Center and IMAX; two (2) tickets to the Seattle Art Museum; a kayak tour for two (2) from Alki Kayaks (subject to Alki Kayak's existing schedules and availability; and two (2) bike rentals for the Burke-Gilman trail.

Approximate retail value of the prizes is USD $1,500. Winner and his/her guest must travel together on the same itinerary. In addition, winners and guests are responsible for obtaining travel insurance (and all other forms of insurance) at their own expense. Winners and guests hereby acknowledge that the Sponsor has not and will not obtain or provide travel insurance or any other form of insurance. The trip must be taken between November 12, 2009 and November 31, 2010. Certain other travel restrictions may apply.

Winners are responsible for the payment of all taxes and for any other expenses and costs not specifically described above, including but not limited to transportation to Seattle, WA above the USD $250 train voucher, ground transportation above the taxi and transit vouchers provided, gratuities, passports, etc. No prize substitutions, cash equivalent, or transfer of prizes permitted, except by Sponsor which reserves the right, at its discretion, to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) of comparable or greater value

4. Eligibility: Sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and Canada (except Province of Quebec) who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at time of entry. Employees of Sightline Institute, its Board of Directors, prize suppliers, and advertising and promotion agencies, and the immediate families (spouses, parents, children, and siblings, and their respective spouses) and individuals living in the households of the above are not eligible to enter or win. Void in Quebec, and where prohibited by law. The Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws and regulations. If any of the terms of this agreement conflict with state, provincial, or local laws and regulations, those laws or regulations will supersede this agreement.

5. Winner Notification: The potential winners will be notified by email followed by telephone confirmation. All entrants must provide a valid telephone number to be eligible. If prize notification goes unacknowledged after one (1) week, or is returned as undeliverable, the prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. Potential grand-prize winner will be required to complete and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability Release, and an IRS Form W-9, both of which must be returned within fourteen (14) days of issuance of prize notification or the prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. Winner's guest must be eighteen (18) years or older (or if the guest is a minor, their parent or legal guardian must execute and return a Liability Release prior to the issuance of travel documents or such guest will not be permitted to travel).

6. Limitation of Liability: By participating in the Sweepstakes, entrants agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Sightline Institute, its advertising and promotions agencies, and each of their respective agents, representatives, officers, directors, and employees (collectively, "Releasees") from and against any injuries, losses, damages, claims, actions, or liability of any kind resulting from or arising from participation in the Sweepstakes or acceptance, possession, use, misuse, or nonuse of any prize (including any travel related thereto) that may be awarded. Entrants agree that the laws of the state of Washington will govern any and all disputes. Releasees are not responsible for printing or typographical errors in any Sweepstakes-related materials; for transactions or entries that are lost, stolen, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled, fail to enter into the processing system, or are processed, reported, or transmitted late or incorrectly or are lost for any reason including computer, telephone, paper transfer, human, or other error; or for electronic, computer, or telephonic malfunction or error, including inability to access any website associated with this promotion, or process any transaction thereon. If in the Sponsor's opinion, there is any suspected or actual evidence of electronic or non-electronic tampering with any portion of the Sweepstakes, or if computer virus, bugs, unauthorized intervention, fraud, or technical difficulties or failures compromise or corrupt or affect the administration, integrity, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Sweepstakes, the judges reserve the right at their sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, void any entries submitted fraudulently, modify or suspend the Sweepstakes, or to terminate the entire Sweepstakes or that portion of the Sweepstakes relating to the suspected or actual tampering of the Sweepstakes and conduct a random drawing to award the prizes using all non-suspect, eligible entries received as of the date of such action. Should the Sweepstakes be terminated or modified prior to the stated expiration date, notice will be posted at daily.sightline.org. Any attempt by an entrant or any other individual to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsors reserve the right to seek damages and other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. As a condition of entering the sweepstakes, participant agrees that: a.) under no circumstances will participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and participant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, consequential, or any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses; b.) all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Sweepstakes, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and c.) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event attorney's fees. Sponsor reserves the right to modify prize award procedures.

If a resident of Canada wins a prize, he or she will be required to correctly answer a timed, mathematical skill question before the awarding of the prize.

7. Winners List: For the names of the Sweepstakes winners (available after February 1, 2010, mail a self-addressed, stamped envelope to "Getaway to Seattle Sweepstakes", c/o Sightline Institute, 1402 Third Avenue, Suite 500, Seattle, WA 98101. Requests must be received no later than March 1, 2010.
