Scorecard Update: It's a numbers game--the Scorecard counter 
| In 2005, northwesterners are: Consuming the equivalent of 7.4 gallons per person of gasoline a week Increasing their average lifespan by about 9 minutes every hour Releasing more than 200 pounds of toxics into the environment every minute

The trends tracked by the Cascadia Scorecard move slowly in the background of our daily lives, but have a tremendous impact on our region over time. To find out how the Northwest is doing this year, check out our new Scorecard counter, which tallies-in real time-the numbers that tell the region's most important stories. Watch the changes add up. Scorecard in Action: Everyone should have a Plan B More than half a million Northwest couples will have sex today. Around 40,000 will take their chances on pregnancy, skipping birth control. Emergency contraception offers a safety net for these instances. Fortunately, Cascadian women have unusual access to emergency contraception such as Plan B. But widespread acceptance of emergency contraception, one of the best public policy options toward reducing the number of unintended pregnancies, is currently stalled at the federal level in the US.
