Economy

Sightline’s economic security index is derived from four components: poverty rates, child poverty rates, unemployment rates, and inflation-adjusted median household incomes. Economy data are derived from US Census Bureau (especially Current Population Survey and American Community Survey); US Bureau of Labor Statistics; and Statistics Canada.

Population

Fertility and birth data are derived from Oregon Department of Human Services, Center for Health Statistics; Washington Office of Financial Management; Washington Department of Health, Center for Health Statistics; Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Bureau of Health Policy and Vital Statistics; BC Stats; the US Centers for Disease Control; and the US Census Bureau.

Energy

Highway fuel data are derived from US Federal Highway Administration; US Energy Information Administration; Washington Department of Licensing; Oregon Department of Transportation; Idaho State Tax Commission; Statistics Canada; and BC Ministry of Finance, Tax Policy Branch. Electricity data are derived from US Energy Information Administration; Statistics Canada; and BC Hydro.

Caribou data are derived from Idaho Panhandle National Forests; and Idaho Department of Fish and Game. Sage grouse data are derived from Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
