Our region—and every region and community on earth—is faced with a new, all-consuming threat: the novel coronavirus.

The crisis requires innovation in our public health response and medical research. It requires policy innovation as well, to buffer communities from severe economic fallout. While this global crisis is the first of this magnitude in the 21st century, it’s not likely to be the last. It is showing us, in painful relief, the urgent need to build stronger, more people- and planet-focused systems that are more resilient to this kind of onslaught.

Sightline’s staff is focused on urgent steps to take right now to protect our communities and, going forward, on ways to ensure smarter democracy, more stable housing policies, a strong social safety net, and a more resilient economy built on clean energy, not fossil fuels.
