Bring Pay-As-You-Drive to Washington

For 15 years Sightline has been promoting Pay-As-You-Drive (PAYD) auto insurance. Today, Unigard Insurance needs 50 volunteer households to start testing the technology to be used in the first PAYD insurance option in Washington State. Sightline’s donors and friends are being offered an exclusive opportunity to participate in this testing.

Participants in the pilot will be asked to:

  • Switch your auto insurance to Unigard (because the PAYD option is not operational yet, you will have to sign up for their standard insurance—although you will be granted a 5 percent discount).
  • Install a GPS-based mileage tracker in all of your household vehicles (must be 1996 or newer).


When the PAYD option is made official (scheduled summer 2010), pilot participants will be able to switch their plans to the new option.
