From the gossip department:

Missoula, Montana, the small college city at the heart of western Montana and the capital of what you might call eastern Cascadia, has long fielded more than its share of inspiring people. Off the top of my head: David James Duncan, Daniel Kemmis, Norman Maclean, Richard Manning and Tracy Stone-Manning, Tom Power, Don Snow, Pat and Carol Williams, and the amazing women of Women’s Voices for the Earth.

Now, as the Missoulianreports, it’s contributing one of the lead authors of the next global scientists’ assessment of climate change: Steve Running. All Cascadians should be proud. Some day, such appointments will be heralded like Supreme Court nominations.
