Who doesn’t want to make us look as dumbstruck-happy as Augustus Gloop with a new bar of Wonka chocolate? Or Veruca Salt eying a golden egg? Or Violet Beauregarde with a fresh stick of gum?
We will be all of those characters and more if you help us win a golden ticket!
That’s right: it’s time for The Seattle Foundation’s 2013 GiveBIG campaign. This single day is like no other for Seattle area nonprofits and donors. Why?
For one, it’s a challenge. GiveBIG lasts just one day—May 15, from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. After that, it’s kaput. Last year, this day of giving raised over $7.4 million dollars for hundreds of area nonprofits; Sightline raised a total of $43,691 (!!!) from our rock-star supporters and The Seattle Foundation’s stretch pool. That’s a lot of people contributing to a sustainable future.
Two, the Golden Ticket. Throughout the day, starting at 7 a.m. and ending at 7 p.m., donors will be chosen at random to have an extra $1,000 and (new this year!) two round-trip Alaska Airlines tickets given to their nonprofit. The donor—maybe you?—also receives a $100 Starbucks gift card. The more donors who participate, the better our chances of nabbing a golden ticket.
Three, your gift will be stretched. The gifts you make on May 15 through our Seattle Foundation page will grow bigger. Thanks to an additional pool of money provided by The Seattle Foundation and other sponsors, the more we raise during GiveBIG, the higher percentage of the stretch pool we get.
…And stretched. A generous Sightline donor has issued a special GiveBIG challenge grant to match the first $1,000 raised dollar-for-dollar. Give early, and your gift is automatically doubled.
A gift to Sightline is a gift to our region, supporting innovative research, smart long-term solutions, and communication tools used by thousands of citizens and leaders to protect our environment and ensure economic prosperity for all.
Your support is what keeps this work going, and GiveBIG is an easy way to have an even bigger impact. If you’ve been reading Sightline and like our work, mark your calendar and make sure May 15 is the day you become a donor to Sightline.
Will you send us up the Wonkavator?

FYI– Golden tickets are not new this year. They’ve been doing it every year. The first year it was every hour from 7-7 and last year it was all day, just not every hour. Assume this year is similar. Cool!
Correct! The golden tickets aren’t new, but the Alaska Airlines prize is!
